Fun Stories

Life since the wedding has been busy but really exciting. We have made so many memories and have so many fun stories to tell!

Honeymoon: Derek took me on the most amazing Caribbean cruise for our honeymoon. It was the greatest week ever! But we never thought we would actually make it on the boat. It was quite the experience getting it booked. We first booked a cruise to the Mexican Riviera a few months before the wedding. In November that boat caught on fire and our cruise had to be canceled. We rebooked it for the first week it would be ready but that one got canceled a few weeks later. We had to cancel flights and try to find yet another cruise. We were really frustrated but with the help of John and Judy we got a Caribbean cruise booked and all the flights switched over. It was the most amazing week. We went to Cozumel Mexico, Grand Cayman, and Jamaica. It wasn’t what we had first expected but it was much better. We had so much fun together!

Our apartment: We are renting a basement apartment in Riverton and it is the perfect little place for us. We have had so much fun making it our home. Derek was so amazing to get boxes unpacked and to get our home set up. I called him my little slave driver (and housewife) because we would come home from work and he would want to go shopping for things we needed or decorate the walls. He hung every picture, shelf and clock we have. He was so great at making our home so cozy and cute! I love him so much. Bed, Bath, and Beyond became part of our regular daily routine. We went there every single day one week. We were looking for a comforter for our bed and we bought a nice comforter set. We got it home and put it on the bed and it had lots of snags and puckers. So the next day we returned it and bought an expensive duvet cover. The next day we decided we could find another one cheaper. So we returned it an bought another duvet cover that was on sale. The next day we needed to get the decorative pillows and pillow cases. By the end of the week we had our bed all bought and ready and had spent less on all of it than we would have on one comforter with no pillows. We love it!

Couponing: I have gotten into couponing in the last few months. My sister-in-law Cassie is amazing at finding great deals and she has helped me a lot. We went to Walgreens and I got 16 items (razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and medicine) for $0.58! We were so excited. Another time we went and saw Jerry Sloan. That was a great couponing trip!

School: School is winding down and we only have 1 month left. It has been a crazy but fun year. My mom found this cute idea to make mini hamburgers out of Nila Wafers, chocolate cookies, and frosting. On April Fool’s Day I told my students that we were going to have big juicy hamburgers. They were so excited. My mom came in with these mini hamburgers and they thought it was so funny. One of my students told her, “Hey, I ordered fries with that!” They were so cute and my mom was great to come in and see my class.

Family Time: One of the greatest things that has happened since we moved to Utah is that my parents moved to Utah also. We tease them that they couldn’t live without us! They moved into a condo about a mile from our apartment so we get to see them A LOT. I am not sure how they feel about it but we love it!! My dad teases us that we come around everyday around dinner time- what a coincidence! We have had so much fun spending time with them. Derek is even being a good sport about watching our girly shows- American Idol and Dancing With the Stars. Growing up with 4 brothers did not entail watching these kinds of movies. They watched sports and scary movies. But we think he secretly likes them all.

We also love spending time with Tyler, Cassie and the girls. We babysat the other day and had so much fun watching movies, playing games, and doing art projects. I love my little nieces and am so grateful for all that Tyler and Cassie do for us.

Easter: Easter this year was so fun! The week before Easter Derek and I watched How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (my favorite movie). Our favorite part is when she gets him the love fern and he lets it die. So for Easter I bought Derek an Easter Love Fern and I think he might let it die. His reaction was really funny! We also got to color Easter eggs and eat Sunday brunch with Sue. They were the pretties eggs we’ve ever painted. We love spending time with Sue. We made Easter dinner for my parents when they got home from Idaho and it actually turned out pretty good! I made no bake cookies and formed them so they looked like little nests with eggs in the middle. They were really cute and very delicious.

My Best Friend: The very best thing about being married is always having by best friend! We may not have a lot but we have a lot of fun together. We are enjoying married life! We got nerf guns from Derek’s friend Tyson and now every day is like war in our apartment. I am becoming a great shot! We spend Family Home Evenings at the Nickelcade playing our favorite childhood arcade games. We go out to dinner, make dinner, and eat lots of ice cream. One weekend in the winter we were trying to think of something fun to do so we decided to build a fort in our family room. We made the world’s best fort and it was a blast. I am so glad that I got to marry my best friend!

Introducing...the Steiners!

Derek and Stacy Steiner- it has a nice ring to it!! Derek and I were married in the Rexburg Idaho Temple on December 28, 2010. The day could not have been more perfect and it is a day we will never forget. The sealing was amazing, the luncheon was delicious, and the reception was filled with our favorite people. We appreciate everyone who helped with the wedding and who came to support and celebrate with us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!!

December 28 was truly the perfect day but every day from then has been great! We moved to Riverton, Utah and live in a cute little basement apartment. Derek was so good at putting things away and decorating our apartment. It now feels like home! We have loved starting our lives together and wanted to share some of our stories.

My story: As a little girl all I ever wanted to be was a wife and a mom. I always knew that I would need to get an education and I wanted to. My dream was to go to college, be a missionary, get home, get married quickly, graduate, teach for a year, and start my family. But God had a different plan for me. Those things did all happen (the family part will have to wait a little) but not on my time table. I watched all my friends get married, start having kids and I simply had to watch and wait. It wasn't easy for me to see other people living my dream. But I am eternally grateful for God's plan and for his timing. I was able to serve the Lord as a missionary and that experience changed my life. I cannot imagine my life without those amazing people in Texas that I was able to meet and teach. They left little marks in my heart that will always remain with me. I know I was sent there so they could teach me! I am grateful for all that I learned as a missionary. I have been able to go to school and become a teacher. I love having my own little classroom with my cute little students. Children are so special and I learn from them everyday. But the best thing that has come to me through patient endurance is my sweetheart Derek. He is the love of my life and my best friend. He is an amazing person and a wonderful husband. I am so grateful for his example and influence. I am so grateful that my Father in Heaven had a better plan for me than I did. I cannot imagine my life without Derek in it. I love and appreciate him so much.

His Story: Derek was the cutest little boy and is now the most handsome man ever! He grew up in Rexburg and is the second of 5 boys. He served a mission in Geneva Switzerland. He graduated from BYU-Idaho in December 2010 and is now work for Rio Tinto in Utah. He is an amazing, cook, mechanic, kisser, and husband. He is great at hanging pictures on our wall, grocery shopping, and folding laundry. I always tell him he makes a great housewife :) He is an amazing man and hopefully someday he will tell his own story.

I had my stories and Derek had his but from December 28 to forever they will always be the Steiner stories!

Getting Married Tomorrow!

Life has never been so busy and so exciting! I am a horrible blogger but I figured now was a great time to update.

The day before I started teaching in August Derek proposed and we set out wedding date for December 28 (at the time it was a great idea. Now we’re not so sure). I was so nervous to start school the next day so he took me to the temple to calm me down, bought me my favorite ice cream and we went for a walk. While we were walking he asked me to take off his cuff link and the ring slipped into my hand. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was such a special night and I can’t wait to be his wife!!

The next day I started my first year of teaching and my time has been filled with lesson plans, grading papers, and decorating bulletin boards ever since. Teaching is much more work than I ever thought. I have loved decorating my room and thinking of fun things to do for my kids. I have 23 second graders and they are full of life. Although it is a job that never ends I love it and I love how sweet my students are to me. They told me when I left that they will never call me Mrs. Steiner- I will be Miss Pasley forever. We have had a great four months in school!!

Between teaching and planning a wedding, life has been crazy. Derek has been in Idaho while I was in Utah so we traveled back and forth for four months trying to plan the perfect wedding. Luckily I have the best mom and mother-in-law in the whole world. They have been amazing to help us plan all the little details and get everything organized. We love the Judy’s!!

My favorite wedding planning memory was finding the dress. It is an exciting time for any brid

e buy my experience was extra special. My parents had come to Utah for their anniversary and we decided to look around for wedding dresses. My dad wasn’t too thrilled with the idea at first but he was so fun to shop with. He sat on the comfy couch and watched me try on many many dresses. He pointed out good and bad things about all the dresses and even gave tips to other brides trying on dresses. He helped me pick out the most beautiful dress and even paid for it!! When we were checking out the girls at the counter told me how lucky I was to have such a sweet and funny father. We left the dress store and he went and helped me pick out shoes, brides maids dresses, and was even willing to pick out the bra! I told me to wait outside that store ; ) It was such a special day and one that I will never forget.

We had an amazing Christmas and it was so good to spend time with both our families. We are so blessed to have such wonderful parents. I am so grateful for the Christmas season and the opportunity I get to celebrate the birth, life, and death of my Savior. I know I got caught up a lot in the presents and the parties along with many wedding details but I know that Christ is the reason we celebrate Christmas and I am so grateful for his life and his sacrifice. Because of him and his Atonement I will have the opportunity to live forever with my family and now that means even more to me.

For months I have been planning the wedding and worrying about all of the many details. Here I am the day before my wedding finishing up all the little things but I know that the most important part required little planning. I will be entering the temple with my sweetheart and will kneel across the altar and promise to be his forever. I know that we will have trials and challenges but I am so grateful to be marrying such an amazing man. He loves me and treats me like a queen. He honors his priesthood and is a great example to me. He is my favorite shopping buddy, mechanic, cook, back scratcher, and my very best friend. I can’t wait to start our lives together.

This is a day that I have been dreaming about for many years. As a young girl with my sister I p

ut the pillow case on my head and pretended to be a bride. I planne

d the details as a teenager. I watched all of my friends and family members get married and couldn’t wait for my day. It didn’t come easy for me and now I can look back and thank my Father in Heaven for the journey. I often asked God why I couldn’t find the right guy for me sooner but I now see that he had something great in store for me. I can’t imagine life without Derek and thank God for his goodness and for his plan. Tomorrow I will marry the love of my life and I hope to see you all there to celebrate with us- and so you can see my handsome new husband. We love you and appreciate all your support!!
