“SEW” Excited!

I had the best birthday ever! I truly have the most amazing family in the world! They made my birthday so special. My mom came into the school to have a little birthday party with my students. She brought cupcakes and hats for each student and they were thrilled. They asked if I could have birthdays more often! They each made me a little card and were all so sweet. I love my class! A few hours later our classroom door opened and I saw my two little nieces walk in with balloons and a sucker for each of my students! Cassie and the girls surprised me and my students too! When Brooklyn walked in and saw me she said “Stacy!” It was the best birthday present ever. I have been trying to get her to say my name since she was born! Abbey brought me some yummy chocolate and a gift card to Cold Stone! It was the best surprise ever!

Later that night  we went to my parents for dinner. We had steaks and corn on the cob. Yummy! Derek has been telling me how spoiled I am for weeks but I had no idea I was this spoiled. I opened my presents to find a brand new sewing machine!! I am SEW excited!! This summer my mom and I did a lot of sewing. We made a few quilts and I really loved using her machine. She and Derek decided to buy a nice one and everyone went in on it. This is so much more than I could have ever dreamed of and I am so grateful!! I have already found a few projects to start with my new machine.

Steiners!

Changing your name is a really long process. It’s definitely a motivation to stay married- I know I don’t want to change mine again! :) First you have to make sure you have your legal marriage certificate that you get from the county you were married in. Then you take that to the Social Security Office and legally change your social security card. They send that you you in about a week. Then you take that to your city office building and get your drivers license changed. They give you a temporary card and mail the real one to you. They say that it will be there within 2 weeks (mine took about 4weeks- they sent it to Boise first and I had to find a piece of mail with my new last name and address and scan it in to the computer then email it to the State department of Transportation so they would send it to me in Utah). Now it is legally changed but then you have to change it with any banks you have, insurance companies, car payment people, your work place, emails, etc. We have been married for 7 months and I am still Pasley in many things.

It was exciting to change my name to Steiner! I loved being a Pasley and I think your last name can tell a lot. Pasleys are strong, determined people. I look at my parents and  they have been through a lot yet they never give up. They stay positive and find humor in everything! The Steiners are hard working and always look for opportunities to serve and help people. John and Judy taught their boys to help those around them. They set up and took down chairs at church, shoveled the driveways for many widows in their ward and worked on the farm. Tyler and Cassie have helped us move, worked on our computers and printers, and fed us many times. I lived with Sue for several months before we were married and she would have given me anything I needed. The Steiners love to tease and joke! They are so close as a family and would do anything for anyone! I am so proud to be a Steiner!!

We had a little Steiner reunion with John and Judy and all the kids! We went to Lava over the 24th of July and had a blast!! We went to the nice pool and water slides and then floated down the river. We rented 4 single tubes and one 4 man tube. John and I stayed on the 4 man- it was safer!! He was good to push us away from rocks and pull us to shore when it was time. Abbey joined us a few times and loved it! She would say “This is no fun at all!” but when we got out she was ready to go again. Tyler and Cassie took turns on the 4 person so we all had a great time. Judy went down some rapids but got stuck in the middle of them. She had all the people on the banks cheering for her- it was hilarious! We were grateful to spend some time with our family. We love them very much!

Summer Stories

I have the funniest mom in the world! I love and appreciate her so much. Since I’ve been out of school we play all the time. They live about a mile from our house so I wake up, pack my back pack, and ride my bike to her house. We work out to Jillian, get ready, quilt and scrapbook. When Derek gets off work I ride back home but most days we go back to my parents for dinner! I am sure they are getting sick of us but we don’t know what we’d do without them- starve for sure! It has been such a blessing having them here so close. We know that soon we will both be buying houses and moving apart so we are just grateful for this special time we have with them. Anyone who knows my parents know how giving and loving they are. They’re wonderful examples to us. We love them.

For Father’s Day we went to Idaho to spend time with my dad and grandpa and to celebrate with Derek’s dad John. We had a blast with everyone but my mom and I stayed for a few days to clean out my stuff in the house and shop. We were looking for our quilting frames in the shop and found them above the little office area. My mom decided she could climb up and hand them all down to me. It all worked out great until she was too scared to climb back down. She stayed up there for about 15 minutes until she got enough courage to slide down to the ladder. It was a little frightening but I haven’t laughed so hard in a long time. We’re both glad she got down safe and when Derek (the safety man) saw the pictures he just said, “not safe”. It wasn’t safe but it was really funny!

I am so grateful for the amazing fathers that I have in my life. My dad is one of the most amazing people I have ever met. He has been through so much in the last few years yet he never questioned his faith and he was always serving others. After 3 different kinds of cancers we are very grateful to have our dad for another Father’s Day. He is our hero! I also have a grandpa who    passed away over 2 years ago. He was the funniest man in the world. He knew everything and he loved to talk to us about everything he knew. He talked to Ryan about dancing. He talked to Nicole about art. And he talked to me about Texas and Spanish. He loved his kids and grandkids and he loved my sweet grandma. We miss him very much. My other grandpa has always been one of my best friends. He calls me his BB (best buddy). I have always had a special connection with him. He just knows me and what I need. He randomly calls on days that I need a little help and he always lifts my spirits. He has been such a great grandfather! John is the newest dad in my life and I love him so much! He was really scary at first but I am learning that he is a big teddy bear. He has welcomed me into their family and I love visiting him. He calls me Petunia and usually takes my side. I love my new dad! Although Derek isn’t a dad yet I know he will be and I am grateful for the man that he is. He tries to help people and is always willing to help. He is fun and easy to be around. I love my sweetie! We all had a great weekend!

Our First Camping Trip

We have been wanting to go camping for a while so this weekend we called Tyler, Cassie, BJ, Janna, and Bryant and packed up and drove to Mt. Timpanogas campground. We didn’t do much but it was a blast. We ate tinfoil dinners, peach cobbler, and dutch oven eggs for breakfast. It was all delicious. We got up Saturday morning and started hiking up Timpanogas Trail till we found the snow! We crossed the river and started hiking up the mountain in the snow. We had such a fun time with our family!
