Changing your name is a really long process. It’s definitely a motivation to stay married- I know I don’t want to change mine again! :) First you have to make sure you have your legal marriage certificate that you get from the county you were married in. Then you take that to the Social Security Office and legally change your social security card. They send that you you in about a week. Then you take that to your city office building and get your drivers license changed. They give you a temporary card and mail the real one to you. They say that it will be there within 2 weeks (mine took about 4weeks- they sent it to Boise first and I had to find a piece of mail with my new last name and address and scan it in to the computer then email it to the State department of Transportation so they would send it to me in Utah). Now it is legally changed but then you have to change it with any banks you have, insurance companies, car payment people, your work place, emails, etc. We have been married for 7 months and I am still Pasley in many things.
It was exciting to change my name to Steiner! I loved being a Pasley and I think your last name can tell a lot. Pasleys are strong, determined people. I look at my parents and they have been through a lot yet they never give up. They stay positive and find humor in everything! The Steiners are hard working and always look for opportunities to serve and help people. John and Judy taught their boys to help those around them. They set up and took down chairs at church, shoveled the driveways for many widows in their ward and worked on the farm. Tyler and Cassie have helped us move, worked on our computers and printers, and fed us many times. I lived with Sue for several months before we were married and she would have given me anything I needed. The Steiners love to tease and joke! They are so close as a family and would do anything for anyone! I am so proud to be a Steiner!!
We had a little Steiner reunion with John and Judy and all the kids! We went to Lava over the 24th of July and had a blast!! We went to the nice pool and water slides and then floated down the river. We rented 4 single tubes and one 4 man tube. John and I stayed on the 4 man- it was safer!! He was good to push us away from rocks and pull us to shore when it was time. Abbey joined us a few times and loved it! She would say “This is no fun at all!” but when we got out she was ready to go again. Tyler and Cassie took turns on the 4 person so we all had a great time. Judy went down some rapids but got stuck in the middle of them. She had all the people on the banks cheering for her- it was hilarious! We were grateful to spend some time with our family. We love them very much!
This is Judy stuck- you can barely see her head! :)
